GLIFO

DESIGN FOR DISABILITIES

Glifo is a light-weight, customizable and tailor made writing tool realized by 3D printing technology. It allows people who suffer from cerebral and physical disorders to write and draw freely, through correct hand stimulation.

Opendot is a fablab based in Milan, that wants to use the advantages of digital fabrication to help others.

TOG is a non-profit that takes care of children with special needs and is always searching for better solutions.

Working hand in hand with families and therapists was fundamental and very helpful.

We had the opportunity to understand home and school dynamics, how these children are treated and where we needed to take action.

THE MAKING PROCESS

We decided to create this product using 3D modeling and 3D printing starting from a singular file. 3D files not only gave us the possibility to make numerous prototypes throughout the designing process, but it gave us the chance to scale the ring support depending on the size of the children’s finger.
